PAWN—part 8

( meanwhile...Blue's perspective)

Before our eyes, Green was sucked into her square as though she was a mere leaf, easily controlled by a gentle breeze.

"GREEN!" The three of us called out, almost in unison, and within a few seconds, I was—

—alone.

Red and Yellow continued to call for her. No response.

I hugged myself, where was Green? Biting my lower lip, I tried to control my tears, in futile hope to stop them from flowing. I stared blankly at the empty space before me, where Green had stood...

Red kicked the grass in frustration. "She's dead. It must be."

Yellow continued to called out for her, but by the tone of his voice, one could tell he was losing all hope that he would get a response.

"Green... ..." I whimpered.

"Stop calling. It's no use. Just save your breath." Red said, in an irritated manner.

He had lost all hope, probably.

"No. It can't be true. Maybe she can't hear us." Yellow reasoned.

"There's no way that she can't hear us. Look how far apart we are and I can hear you and blue just fine without shouting. The only way for her not be able to hear us is if she is unconscious. Then she's probably as good as gone out here."

Yellow didn't respond.

Red did have a point... But...but surely it couldn't be true...

No. No it couldn't be true. Lies. I won't believe Red's spurious claims. What did he know anyway?

"Green! Green! Where are you?!" I began screaming, with more conviction then ever. The tears continued to flow, like a meandering stream, but I had not lost hope yet... ...
