PAWN - Part I

In the perspective of Yellow

Chapter One

A shake, and a rattle. Almost too suddenly, I felt myself being lifted, my feet leaving the soft cushiony floor of a dark pouch, into a world illuminated by a bright light, and then landing, somewhere...different.

I opened my eyes.

The white light was piercing, and as I readjusted myself, I heard the chatter of red, blue and green beside me. I looked around me, trying to familiarise myself with this unfamiliar new world.

Above me, was a canopy of trees, like a green, stained glass window, to the never ending stretch of sky. Looking down, blades of grass tickled my yellow base, as brown leaves fluttered from the trees--like hopeless moths.

We were in a forest, one unfamiliar to me, one I have never been in before. Anything could happen. Marked out faintly on the floor, we're vague letters.."T", "R", "A", T", S"..whatever that meant.

Around me, red, blue and green were also looking around with awe, and fear. We didn't know what would happen to us, where we were, what we were doing here. Anything could happen, and it would catch us unprepared and off our guard.

Suddenly, green exclaimed in excitement ," hey look guys! Look at what I found!" in her hands, was a tattered piece of paper, yellow and aged. We crowded around green, reading it in utmost silence.

"Rule 1- Welcome to the game! This is a game of luck, of adventure, and of potential mishap! Your goal is to reach the end of the game, and hopefully, remain unscathed! if you reach the end, you may possibly escape! Good luck with the game!

Rule 2- different challenges will come your way, and you shall face them fearlessly. Do not be afraid of death, the only way to die is if your controller gives up on you. But if you decide to team up with someone else then, all hope is not lost! In the challenges you face, you won't die, you will merely be injured beyond measure. Good luck with the game!

Rule 3- Good luck with the game! You will need it. Of course whether luck will help, remains to be seen.

Ready? Let the die start rolling! Red comes first in the rainbow of--"

"rainbow of?" Red  questioned, voicing out what all of us had been thinking in our hearts. That part of the note had been torn, leaving a gaping hole.

Suddenly, a large white cube, dotted peculiarly like a Dalmatian rolled across the side of the forest, until it finally balanced on one side, and the side that faced us, had two black dots etched on its side. Was that the die?

A large hand, gloved in a red satin glove, reached down from the sky, and moved Red, two steps ahead. "Wait guys, I found the missing piece to the note!" Green shouted, looking at the small patch of torn paper, found on the floor, next to a crumpled, withered flower that had fallen from an old tree.

It read," Death".
